Baraha is meant to be used for text input purposes – you know, things like writing an email, composing a blog post, jotting down ideas, and other things of the sort. It features a text editor that has basic word processing functionality to offer, it features a Unicode-based text editor, and it features a tool that you can use to quickly switch from one language to another.

And this is where I tell you that Baraha is meant for Indian users – it is meant to help Indian users input text in Indian and work with text in Indian. And because of that, Baraha provides support for the following Indian languages: Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese and Oriya.

Baraha provides support for any Windows edition from Windows XP up to Windows 10. A setup wizard will help you install Baraha on a PC that runs a supported Windows edition. When it’s done, this wizard will ask you to register your copy. Here’s what you have to do: click on Get Trial Key and enter the required info; a trial key will be sent to your email address; use that key to register your copy; you’ll get a “registration is successful” prompt that says Baraha, BarahaPad, BarahaIME and FontConvert have been unlocked.

Baraha is a text editor that features basic word processing functionality: compose text, convert to Indian language script, insert picture, insert hyperlink, insert symbol, find and replace, print, send document via email, and more.

BarahaPAD is a Unicode text editor. It is a standalone editor that has the following to offer: multiple language and keyboard input methods, text formatting options, print and send documents via email, find, replace, convert to, spell check, translate text (uses Google Translate to translate text).

IME stands for Input Method Editor. IME software lets you, the user, enter characters and symbols not found on your keyboard. Now that you know that, I can tell you that BarahaIME lets you easily switch from one language input to another and from one keyboard input to another.

FontConvert is one of several tools offered by Baraha. What it does is it converts documents between Baraha and other 3rd party fonts.

As mentioned above, registering your copy of Baraha will unlock Baraha, BarahaPad, BarahaIME and FontConvert. Once you’ve unlocked Baraha, you can use it for evaluation purposes for a trial period of 30 days. If you don’t want to register, you don’t have to. You’ll be using Baraha in demo mode and you'll have to put up with a nag screen.

Baraha is great for working with text – but mind you, it’s great for working with Indian text.

Pros

A setup wizard will help you install Baraha on your Windows PC. You can very easily register your copy of Baraha. There’s a Baraha text editor, a BarahaPad Unicode editor, and a BarahaIME input method editor. Easily create text in Indian, easily change the input method to your favorite Indian language; lots of Indian languages are supported. You can buy the full Baraha package or individual editor packages.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, nag screen (the nag screen will not be displayed if your register your copy).
